One of the most revealing ways we can determine how much we trust God is found in how we handle our finances. Money is simply a tool, and it doesn’t carry a spirit on it until we take possession of it. If we’re under the influence of mammon—which is an evil spirit in direct contradiction to God—that spirit will be passed on to the money we have. Conversely, if we’re directed by the Spirit of God, His spirit will influence our management of money. Mammon hides behind a mask of lies and pretends it can do what only God can do; if we are to remove this mask and see the truth clearly, we must deliberately choose to serve God.
