Atlanta-Area Church Extends Carnival-like Welcome to One of Largest Back-to-School Help Events

Free supplies, health checks, and haircuts offered as World Changers Church International helps families prepare for new school year.

COLLEGE PARK, GA—August 4, 2017 - Thousands of people are expected to turn out for one of the largest back-to-school supply distribution events in the Atlanta area at World Changers Church International (WCCI, https://www.worldchangers.org), on Saturday, August 5th, from 9:00 a.m. until noon.

Elementary, middle, and high school students will not only receive free backpacks and materials, but also no-cost health checks and haircuts during the Back 2 School event hosted at the church’s College Park campus for the 11th year.

Over 150 volunteers will be behind the three-hour event at the World Dome venue, which has drawn close to 10,000 parents and children in previous years. Special guests at the Back 2 School event will be principals from area schools, who will be on hand to meet new and returning students.

The giveaway—to be replicated at twenty-seven WCCI fellowship churches around the country on different days—is just part of the well-known church's year-round outreach to parents and children in the local community. The backpacks will include a welcome letter from WCCI founders and senior pastors, Creflo and Taffi Dollar, which features a daily prayer for parents to say for their children.

“We are looking forward to welcoming so many children and their families to our campus,” said Creflo. “This is always a special day. We are delighted to be able to help prepare students for the coming school year and express God’s love and care for them.”

There will be a carnival atmosphere at the Back 2 School outreach event, with an inflatable play center, games, and festive activities. Food trucks will be on site, and visitors will be entertained by the Air Elite Dunkers’ basketball skills, music from WCCI’s youth ministry team, and a fashion show.

Back 2 School is a Creflo Dollar Global Missions Care for Kids program initiative, (www.missions.creflodollarglobalmissions.org), which hosts annual events in cities throughout the United States and abroad. From Atlanta to Los Angeles, New York City to Gold Coast, Australia, children around the world receive much-needed resources that make returning to school easier.

Participants at WCCI’s main campus will also be given information about services and other ministries at the church. With some 30,000 members, the church offers a wide range of caring and personal development programs.

“We believe that God loves everyone and cares about every aspect of their life,” said Creflo. “Back 2 School is an opportunity for us to invest in our local community and equip children to be successful not only academically, but also physically and spiritually.”
