Protection from a Higher Realm

If you’ve ever felt like you were in over your head when trouble hit, you’re not alone. We’ve all experienced bad situations that made us realize that we needed some serious protection. Thankfully, we have a powerful ally, and prayer is our secret weapon in a time of danger. Praying to God for help mobilizes all the forces of heaven to come to our rescue.

God specializes in deliverance from danger for those who trust in Him. He’ll never let us down or abandon us when we pray for His intercession. We may not be able to control what happens around us, but God promises that it won’t overcome us. When we call out to Him, He always hears us. “Call unto me, and I will answer thee…” (Jeremiah 33:3).

It’s a guarantee that crazy things in life can happen and threaten to destroy us. When the unexpected blindsides us and takes us by surprise, the last thing we want is to feel as if we’re fighting the battle alone. One of God’s promises is to be with us in the midst of what’s happening. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah” (Psalm 46:1-3). The more we contemplate and reflect on this, the more we realize the commitment God has made to ensure our safety.

Most people turn to prayer as a last resort when nothing else works; it should actually be our first response. Popular culture considers praying a weakness; however, a strong prayer life is the sign of a spiritually strong, mature Christian. Prayer is a conversation with God and connects us to limitless power. “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” (James 5:16).

The world may scoff at God’s promises, but the current state of affairs globally proves that it doesn’t know God or His ability to deliver from trouble. No relationship with God means no protection. By contrast, the believer who is “Psalm 91-equipped” enjoys God’s divine protection in every situation. If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone…The Lord says, ‘I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble’(Psalm 91:9-12, 14, 15, NLT).

When life seems like it’s spiraling out of control, we don’t have to deal with it by ourselves. Our protection is stronger than any solid rock on earth. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.’ Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence(Psalm 91:1-3, NKJV). Prayerfully thanking God for the security He has made available to us allows Him to surround us with His supernatural forces.
