The spirit of mammon is a sneaky, subtle demon that hides from us and tries to disguise itself as the spiritual voice we hear in religion. It always rises up against the Word of God concerning money and trust when the subject is preached, and those possessed by it don’t want to hear the message. One tip-off that the spirit of mammon is present is when we verbally confess that we trust God, but pull back from trusting Him with our finances. We’re deceived if we believe we can trust Him in the much if we can’t trust Him in the area of money, which Jesus called the least.
