A Godly Influence on Your Money

There are competing influences in the world and, as free moral agents, we can choose the ones to which we will submit. Some influences are destructive and some are good; it’s important to be able to discern the difference between the two. God favors us with money to use as a tool to help others, but some people allow themselves to become seduced by the spirit of mammon, which can attach itself to money. Whether or not we let God influence how we handle money tells us much about where we place our faith.

Money is the least important thing in the kingdom of God, yet we can make it our master if we let mammon influence our way of thinking. If we’re faithful in little things like how we handle our finances, we can be trusted in the much, but the opposite is also true. Mammon’s ungodly influence aims at making us think we don’t need God, and it wants to steal our trust in Him.

God wants to bless us, but responding by trusting in anything other than Him cancels out any benefits we might have seen. Mammon isn’t confined to just money; it’s also found in anything in the world that goes against the Word of God. An infatuation with ”stuff” that causes us to lust after it is a warning sign that we need to refocus on our heavenly Father and His love for us. Submitting to God’s influence removes yokes and destroys burdens in our lives.

Lord, if we didn’t have Your Word to us, we would be in serious danger of being tricked into trusting the spirit of mammon. Thank You for Your protection in this area. In Jesus’ name, amen.
