A Real Relationship with God

Print
We live in a world that doesn’t know God. We can’t depend on religion to define Him, because religion focuses on the “doing” aspect of the law instead of the “believing” aspect of grace. To truly know God, we must see Him in the context of Jesus Christ. We don’t have to be afraid of God and He’s not angry with us; all He wants is for us to know Him and experience His love firsthand.

To even want to pursue a relationship with Him, we must first believe that He loves us. In the Old Testament, the people were unable to receive what God wanted them to have because they believed He hated them. God is actually incapable of hating because that’s not His nature; not only does He love us so much that He gave His only begotten Son, He is love.

Jesus gives us the perfect picture of what God is like; to know Jesus is to know God. In the Old Testament, God spoke to the people through the prophets, and only in fragments. By comparison, He now speaks to us through His Son, who is the exact expression of God’s nature. Walking with Him daily and spending time in His presences allows us to immerse ourselves in His infinite love, and allows Him to transform us into His image.

When we know our God we find supernatural strength to do exploits that others can’t. Letting Him lead us through life enables us to go out with joy and be led forth with peace. He becomes our God of hope who fills us with all joy and peace in believing His love for us. Entering into a relationship like this guarantees that we’ll never be the same.

Prayer:

God, developing a loving relationship with You through Your Son illuminates our lives. Knowing You gives us peace, hope, and joy that the world can’t take away. Thank You for this great love that You offer us. In Jesus’ name, amen.
