Fear Not

Part of being human is dealing with our emotions, both the godly and the ungodly ones. Fear is one of those emotions that we must keep close control over, to prevent it from sweeping us away. God gave us feelings to make life more enjoyable, but the enemy is trying to turn them against us. When sickness and disease hits, it’s important to know God’s Word in this area.

We need to remember that sickness isn’t God’s will for us, and that He has promised to deliver us from the noisome pestilence. A thousand may fall at our side, and ten thousand at our right hand, but it won’t come near us. Jesus went to the cross to obtain healing for us; by His stripes, we’ve already been healed.

Terror and dread aren’t from God. He hasn’t given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and love, and a sound mind. In these times, it’s critical to keep in mind how much God loves us. There is no fear in love, because perfect love casts out fear.

We’re in spiritual warfare right now, and the enemy is on the attack. We’re wrestling not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, and the rulers of the darkness in this world. When we feel panic trying to take over and cloud our good judgment, we know that we have authority over this emotion. Jesus has given us authority over all the power of the enemy; nothing by any means can hurt us.

Believers are God’s children, sanctified and set apart from the rest of the world. This means when others are living in fear of sickness, we have nothing to fear. God has conquered every disease, and walks in perfect health. As He is, so are we in this world.

Prayer:

Lord, it’s Your will that we stay healthy. You’ve given us authority over every germ and sickness that can hurt us. Jesus obtained healing and deliverance for us two thousand years ago; we’re grateful for that. In Jesus’ name, amen.
