God’s Favor Dispensed On Us

Print

In the Old Testament, the people lived under the Law of Moses, which demanded strict obedience. After Jesus came and dispensed God’s grace, the law was no longer relevant. This favor God chose to show us remains in effect to this day, although many people are unaware of the current dispensation and how it impacts their lives. Under the present covenant, sin no longer has power over us; we’re no longer under the law, but under grace.

Religion has taught us all about sin, but now, we no longer have to be constantly reminded of sin. We no longer have to work hard to please God, because he’s already pleased with us when we believe in Jesus and what He did for us. The law was too perfect for imperfect man to keep, but, in the age of grace, God accepts us the way we are, imperfections and all. Jesus justifies us by faith, which is something the law could never do.

At one time, sin was a huge issue for mankind, and the priests had to constantly atone for it through animal sacrifices. Jesus took care of sin, permanently, when He became the perfect sacrifice for all time. There now remains no more sacrifices for sins, because the requirements under the law have been cancelled. Jesus’ blood sacrifice cleared us of guilt and gave us perfect consciences, which the Old Testament priests’ sacrifices couldn’t accomplish.

Sin is now a non-issue, and the realization of this frees us to live life the way God originally intended; with a clear conscience. We don’t have to be weighed down by guilt or shame over something that happened in the past. Because of God’s favor, we can let go of past hurts and pains, and embrace a bright and promising future.

Prayer:

Lord, your grace took us from curses and condemnation to blessings and salvation. The blood of Your Son freed us from the endless cycle of self-effort, trying to be good enough to stand before You. We thank you that we’re now the beneficiaries, by faith, of all the good, and none of the bad. In Jesus’ name amen.
