One Ministry, One Church, One Message Worldwide
The weekly meditation scripture and inspirational nugget are designed to encourage you in your walk with God, strengthen your faith and give you a specific scripture to meditate on all week long. To get the most out of these weekly scriptures, we encourage you to keep them before you every day and apply them to your life and circumstances. Declare them daily and stay focused on them until you experience true results.
When most people read the Bible, they read it from an old-covenant perspective which focuses on sin, condemnation, and self-effort. The Old Testament has valuable lessons to teach us, but we no longer need to live under the old covenant and the Law of Moses. The current covenant of grace was established after Jesus died on the cross and was raised from the dead, and it allows us freedoms that were nonexistent under the law. If we do not read our Bibles through the lens of God’s unearned, undeserved favor toward us, we will not understand the truth about how the finished works of Jesus impact our lives in every area.
Correctly dividing and analyzing the Word of God empowers us to break free from negative emotions, destructive habits, or anything else weighing us down in our spirits. Conversely, incorrectly dividing it actually hinders us from experiencing God’s best. Before the cross, God’s blessing depended on man’s self-efforts and obedience, first. After the cross, the requirements to be blessed changed from what we must do to believing in what Christ already did.
What this means for us is that any curse that was in effect pre-cross has now been lifted, and we no longer have to fear it. The post-cross blessings have already been made available to us, and we receive them by faith. Jesus’ blood neutralized any curse spoken over us, and we can speak the Word into any situation that opposes us. No one can curse what God has blessed.
God knew we were too weak to keep all the requirements of the law, which is why He abolished them by sending us Jesus. His grace is sufficient, and we can be grateful that He has replaced the need for our own works. Believing this changes our whole perspective.
Lord God, You blessed us with the knowledge and wisdom to see the difference between the old and the new covenants. You love us enough to teach us important lessons from the Old and New Testaments while displaying Your amazing grace. We praise and thank You for this, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
