Protection from Heaven

Print
We’ve all had times when we felt afraid and vulnerable. This is an unpleasant aspect of life that no one likes to deal with, yet it’s just as real as the enjoyable times. The difference between being swallowed up by fear and dominating it is our response. Going to God’s Word to see what He says shows us just how powerful our divine protection is.

There’s plenty going on in today’s world that can scare us. Meditating on it all can make us fearful. However, fear isn’t from God; His overwhelming favor toward us authorizes us to reject it when it shows up. God hasn’t given us the spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.

There’s a battle going on in our minds, and Satan is attacking our thought lives with everything he’s got. He wants to move us out of faith and into fear, which is the arena that the world operates in. He suggests that bad things will happen to us because God is punishing us; however, God loves us and doesn’t want to hurt us. There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment.

Not only does God promise to protect us, He’s even given us the authority to take the fight to the enemy. Jesus gave the disciples power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing could by any means hurt them. We’ve been given the same power that they received. This means we don’t have to sit meekly and put up with what the devil throws at us.

God is serious about His commitment to keep us safe. When we trust Him, no evil will befall us, and no plague will come near our dwelling; He has given His angels charge over us. We can have perfect peace with promises like these.

Prayer:

God, You love us and have promised to protect us from harm and danger. Your protection is stronger than any threat we could ever face. Thank You for watching over us. In Jesus’ name, amen.
