Restoration of Our Spiritual Sight

Print

Physical blindness can be heartbreaking, but spiritual blindness is a tragedy. Most people think they have a handle on life, but they’re sailing along totally blind to what Jesus Christ has done for them personally. Even after being born again, unless we diligently study the Word of God to renew our minds, we can remain in the dark about the details of the Gospel of Grace. Developing a personal relationship with Christ allows Him to open our eyes to Scriptural truths that are right in front of us.

Grace has made healing, restoration, deliverance, knowledge, and spiritual insight available to us, and all we need to do is receive it. The restoration of sight to the blind was prophesied in the Old Testament, and it came to pass during Jesus’ earthly ministry. When most people read about Jesus healing the blind, they think of it only in physical terms, but this healing also included opening the prison doors of the mind to a full understanding of the Gospel.

When we only have our natural senses to guide us, we stumble along like blind people, unable to see the big picture on an eternal scale. We’re controlled by our emotions and our own limited thoughts, and our fears keep us from hearing the Holy Spirit talking to us. Religion keeps us imprisoned in self-effort, blind and uninformed about the real Jesus. When we accept God’s favor toward us, a veil of ignorance is removed from our minds and our spiritual eyes.

With the spiritual insight we receive from God, we clearly see what others cannot. Under the covenant of Moses, this spiritual vision was reserved for prophets like Elisha and a select few others. Now that we’re under the covenant of grace, we can receive the perfect spiritual vision to see and experience the rich, abundant, satisfying life God wants us to have.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, You sent us Your only Son to open our spiritual eyes and allow us to see for ourselves Your great compassion and love for us. We are grateful and thankful that You chose to bring us the illumination of Your Word. In Jesus’ name, amen.
