The Source of Our Prosperity

Print

If we forget who the real source of everything good in our lives is, we can make the mistake of thinking we are the source of our own prosperity. This mistake can manifest itself in our giving. Remembering that God is our source helps us give with the right motivation. Giving is a selfless characteristic of being a Christian.

Through His grace, God has blessed us so that we can bless others. These blessings have a way of circling back to us. Helping the poor and sharing our abundance with them is what believers do; it’s a powerful witness for the kingdom of God. When we give generously without congratulating ourselves or expecting anything in return, we quietly make an impact on others’ lives.

Giving is a way to build others up, not to make ourselves look good. All good things come from God, who has blessed us abundantly because He, Himself, is a giver. Giving a portion of what we receive to others is simply sharing what comes from Him.

When we trust God more than money, our giving becomes a joyful expression of love and gratitude. It demonstrates the condition of our hearts. God loves when we give cheerfully, not out of guilt or a sense of obligation. He loves us even if we don’t give, but doing so makes us partners in His overall plan.

This act of faith creates avenues that allow God to move in ways we don’t understand. Trusting in ourselves will never get us the results we want, but trusting in Him as our source of all prosperity opens supernatural doors. Acknowledging the role giving plays in our service to others allows God to work His will in our lives.

Prayer:

God, you have blessed us with everything we need to live an abundant, rich, and plentiful life. You did this because of Your love toward us. When we trust you more than riches, You enable us to show that same love to others. In Jesus’ name, thank You. Amen.
