The Value of Following God

Print
Life is a gift from God. We all have a reason for being here; finding out why requires that we focus on Him and follow His lead. With all the spiritual noise in the world this is no easy task, but it’s well worth it. The first step in this discovery is accepting Jesus and the undeserved favor He offers us.

What God has in mind for us is always good. The thoughts He thinks toward us are thoughts of peace, not evil, to give us a future and a hope. Jesus is Grace in human form; when we study God’s Word we begin to hear Jesus clearly and distinctly. As His sheep, we hear His voice and follow Him, even if it’s in a different direction from the way everyone else is going.

We position ourselves to be led by God by developing a personal relationship with Him; the more time we spend in His presence, the clearer we’ll hear Him. We’ll never be disappointed when we’re in expectation of hearing Him. We’ll hear a word behind us saying, “This is the way, walk in it, when you turn to the right and when you turn to the left.” Relying on God gives us spiritual sight on our journey that others don’t have.

Our relationship with God has a way of changing us from the inside out, beginning with the way we think. Bringing our thoughts into alignment with His thoughts allows us to escape our environment’s negative, limited way of thinking. We mustn’t be conformed to this world, but instead be transformed by the renewing of our minds; in this way we find God’s good, acceptable, and perfect will.

Discovering what God wants for us doesn’t have to be a mystery. It involves slowing down and refocusing on Him. He tells us to be still and know that He is God. We’ll never be the same once we catch a glimpse of what He envisions for us.

Prayer:

Lord, You make plain Your will for our lives; studying and living Your Word reveals it to us. Thank You for the step-by-step instructions on discovering Your plans for us that are provided in the Bible. In Jesus’ name, amen.
