Life Is Not a Dress Rehearsal

Some people drift through life with no clue why they’re even here. You may have witnessed individuals who wonder what comes next after we die, and whether our time here on this planet has any meaning at all. The world has coined the phrase “Life is not a dress rehearsal,” and although its meaning is secular, this has quite a bit of truth in it. Looking at this phrase through the lens of the Bible brings it into perfect clarity.

The Authority of the Believer

Summary

Through unmerited, undeserved favor, God has given us authority to do the same things that Jesus did during His earthly ministry. Those things include supernatural acts like healing the sick, raising the dead, and casting out demons. We may see ourselves as ordinary people, but if we are to use this authority we have been given, we must change the way we see ourselves. This power is given to every born-again Believer through God’s love and grace.

Praying in Tongues in Your Most Holy Faith

Our True Identity

Whenever we watch television or read the newspaper, we can pick up on the world’s fear about identity theft. Many people are particularly concerned about this type of theft. Criminals are out in force to try and steal our identity, and we should rightly be careful to protect our information. But God has His own message about identity, and it’s highly encouraging.

Words to Live By

When we look around us, we see plenty of examples of people speaking words of hate. It’s easy to use words to tear someone down, and if we’re not careful, we can get caught in the same trap. God gave us the power of language to use for good, not evil, but many seem to have forgotten this. Words are powerful, and the Bible has some specific lessons for us on how our speech can help or hurt others.

God Corrects, but Does Not Punish

The world has gone to extremes to twist and distort our perception of what we think God is like, and many people have been afraid of Him their entire lives. A popular notion among many is that He’s an angry, vengeful God, ready to strike us down when we sin and make mistakes. Because of that mindset, they attribute to God the bad, painful things that happen to them in life, erroneously assuming that those are His ways of punishing them for something they did wrong. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Manifesting God’s Grace

God loves us so much that He wants us to be His children. He sent His Son to die on a cross for us so that we could be free from our sins and be made righteous. Jesus, Who is Grace in human form, makes us holy and blameless before God. Therefore, when we make a mistake or things go wrong in our lives, we should ignore the negative messages we often receive from the world telling us that we’re not good enough or worthy of God’s best. These negative messages come from the devil, who takes delight in spreading lies.

Being Embraced by God

People today don’t understand God and His love, and that breaks my heart. The message most people get is the Hollywood version, that God either hates them or is terribly angry with them. He’s not a vengeful God waiting for us to make a mistake so He can have a reason to condemn and punish us. God is the very essence of love, and He wants very much to enfold us in His arms and embrace us.

Your Supernatural Success

For some people, navigating through life can be a confusing maze, filled with failure and frustration. What they may not realize is that everyone has at their disposal supernatural help to guarantee success. God has set aside for us everything we need to succeed in life, if only we let Him take the helm. When we acknowledge and accept how His grace applies to our lives, what was formerly a mystery to us will become clear.

You Can’t Exhaust Grace

Have you ever waded through crowds of shoppers at the store to buy something you needed, only to find out they were sold out? Perhaps you went to your local supermarket for milk and bread after an emergency was announced, but the supply of food had been exhausted and the shelves were bare. It can be frustrating to see that there’s nothing left for you, and when you rely on the world as your source of supply, this kind of thing can happen. But making God our source gives us a supply of grace that never runs out when we’re in trouble.

Excelling beyond Your Circumstances

Some of us may find ourselves in a rut, struggling just to keep up with our circumstances. Success in paying the bills, maintaining the bank account, or finding a job, can seem elusive. When we try to handle our own affairs, we may make mistakes and fail. But God is committed to our success, and when we rely on Him, we excel beyond our circumstances.

Victory in Spiritual Warfare

The idea of being victorious appeals to everyone, but the world’s way to achieve victory calls for relying on our own strength. The typical strategies for winning teach us to focus on ourselves and compete with others to come out on top. Watching war movies, TV shows, and televised sporting events gives us a skewed vision of winning, but that kind of victory is hollow.
