We All Have a Past, but We No Longer Live There

December 18, 2017

“For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body” (Ephesians 5:23).

The Law of Receiving (Part 2)

Summary

To receive anything from God, it is important to understand what He has made available for us. The Bible tells us that God will provide all of our needs in life; in fact, He has already done this, and He is waiting for us to accept it. This is a serious commitment God made to us, because the Scriptures say that all, not just some, of our needs will be met. Jesus fulfilled that commitment when He went to the cross two thousand years ago, but some Christians still operate as if this never happened. Believers must know what to do to lay hold of what is available to us. There are spiritual laws that govern provision and receiving, and we must be aware of these laws. Knowing how they operate helps us to move into a position to receive.

Headship: Radical Servanthood

Summary

Jesus is our example of how a servant’s heart is necessary for headship. Jesus came to offer all of what He has to everyone, male and female, and allow everyone to partake of His fullness. He overcame the enemy when He died on the cross, went to hell, and was resurrected. He wants all His children to benefit from this victory. He has the advantage over darkness, sin, and the Law, and now He wants to give us this advantage. As the head of the church and our ultimate servant-provider, Jesus is the source of all our growth. He did not come to dominate us, but to provide for us by serving us.

The Ministry of the Holy Spirit (Part 2)

Summary

In the past, we have been misinformed about the Holy Spirit, but we must know who He is if we are to understand His ministry. Fables and myths about Him can get in the way of us truly knowing Him, and it is important not to define Him in terms of what He is not. The Holy Spirit is not defined as a feeling or an emotion, a jump or a skip, but as a real person. We must set aside our religious assumptions about His identity and the role He plays. When we know who He is, then we can benefit from what He was called to do. The Holy Spirit was sent to speak to us, but we must not get so caught up in jumping and shouting that we do not hear what He is trying to tell us. When we get to know Him as a person, then we can make the distinction between true spirituality and mere emotional displays.
