Dealing with Your Emotions

Summary

Most people think that emotions cannot be controlled, but Christians have been given authority over our emotions. God gave us emotions as a gift, but we should not allow them to govern us or control our lives. Feelings of depression, rejection, or inferiority always have the potential to overwhelm us, but there is no reason to be emotionally out of control. The enemy uses our emotions to try to move us away from God’s will for our lives, so we must be vigilant against attacks in this area. When we find ourselves in a situation, we must not allow it to dictate how we feel. Instead of letting our emotions deal with us, we have the power to take charge and proactively deal with our emotions. Doing this gives us victory.

Redeemed from Danger

SUMMARY

Under the old covenant, the people lived according to the Law of Moses. They were bound by more than six hundred commandments which regulated every aspect of their lives. Now, we are no longer bound by these strict commandments. Christians have the freedom to live by a better covenant established on better principles but, if we are not careful, we will settle for living beneath God’s best for us. The danger here is that accepting a sub-standard way of life can become the norm for us. Believers do not have to live according to expired Old Testament rules and regulations. Jesus has redeemed us from the law, which means He has bought us out and released us from under its curse. Now, we can operate in God’s plan for us.

The Law of Receiving

Summary

Although believers are no longer under the Law of Moses, we are still under the spiritual laws that have been in force since the world was formed. One of those principles is the law of receiving from God; this law operates by faith. Jesus made deliverance, healing, prosperity, abundance, and everything else we could ever need available to us, but to receive these things, we must understand the laws governing them. Faith comes into play when we hear the Word of God, believe and receive it, and continually study and meditate on it. Constantly focusing on the Word causes it to take root in our hearts and eventually bear fruit, similar to a farmer sowing a seed for a future harvest. The enemy is bent on keeping the Word from taking root in us. He does that by trying to distract us so that we change our focus. With this in mind, we must block out all distractions and ensure our hearts are receptive to receive God’s Word.
