The Reality of Satan and Demons
Summary We are presently seeing a proliferation of evil around the world. This is not happening in a vacuum; there is a spiritual world in existence that is just as real as our physical world. Everything going on in in the supernatural realm impacts our natural environment. This is nothing the believer has to fear; although demonic activity is present, we have authority over it. The devil would like nothing better than for us to believe he does not exist; this would allow him to work undetected. With this in mind, we must examine ourselves to discern if we are unknowingly under the influence of unclean spirits in any area of our lives. The devil suggests lies to us that contradict God’s Word; we defeat the enemy by submitting to the Word of God and actively resisting every lie thrown at us. A deep knowledge of the Word heightens our awareness of the subtle way Satan makes suggestions designed to move us away from God, and gives us the advantage in our spiritual fight.

How to Stand Against the Spirit of Strife
SummaryStrife is designed to destroy our lives, our relationships, and even the church. When it rises up against us and we do not actively resist it, it shuts us down. We must not fail to stand up to strife, or else the blessings that God has in store for us will be blocked. The Spirit of God brings liberty, but the spirit of strife sows evil and lack of clarity. As long as we continue talking about strife, we give it life; therefore, we must know when and what words to speak, and when to keep silent. Strife provides the perfect opportunity for Satan to operate. We must use our authority to fight the good fight of faith to defeat strife. |

The True Meaning of Obedience
Summary The definition of what it means for us to obey God has changed from the old covenant of the law to the new covenant of grace. Before, perfectly keeping all the commandments was required in order to receive blessings and avoid being cursed; now, belief in Jesus’ perfect performance in keeping all the laws positions us to receive all of the blessings with none of the curses. Focusing on Jesus instead of on our self-efforts allows us to find rest in His sufficiency. Setting aside all the rules and regulations that religion says are important and simply believing in God’s love allows Him to give us the specifics of how to accomplish what He wants us to do.
