“Quien nos salvó y llamó con llamamiento santo, no conforme a nuestras obras, sino según el propósito suyo y la gracia que nos fue dada en Cristo Jesús antes de los tiempos de los siglos. Pero que ahora ha sido manifestada por la aparición de nuestro Salvador Jesucristo, el cual quito la muerte y saco a luz la vida y la inmortalidad por el evangelio” (1 Timoteo 1:9, 10, VRV). |

Knowing God
Summary To truly know God, we must see Him in the context of Jesus Christ. God is not angry, and He is not determined to punish us like He was with the people in the Old Testament. He is instead a God of love, mercy, grace, and healing, as expressed perfectly through Jesus’ nature. God wants to give us every good thing we could ever need; in order for us to receive these things, we need to know Him as represented by His Son. Knowing God through a personal relationship with Him is different than simply knowing about Him, and it goes deeper than just the mechanics of having our needs met. Learning spiritual principles are fine, but they do not replace a relationship with God, Himself. Being in His presence and letting His love wash over us radically changes our entire outlook on life.

Know When to Say “No”
Summary As parents, we all love our children and want the best for them; however, we need godly wisdom to know exactly what “the best” is. It is normal to want to help our kids as much as we can. However, despite our best intentions, there is always the possibility of enabling them instead of helping them. A parent who is an enabler might be motivated by a sense of control; this could cause the children to learn to rely on them, instead of on God. Our sons and daughters should eventually be able to live successful lives. When they make requests of us, our response is everything; sometimes tough love is the best response. The Bible says to train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it. In all our parenting situations, relying on the Holy Spirit’s guidance and direction enables us to do that.

“Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law” (Galatians 2:16, NLT). |

“Because thou servedst not the Lord thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things; Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the Lord shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee” (Deuteronomy 28:47, 48). |

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first, Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord” (1 Thessalonians 4:16, 17). |

“Large crowds followed Jesus as he came down the mountainside. Suddenly, a man with leprosy approached him and knelt before him. ‘Lord,’ the man said, ‘if you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean.’ Jesus reached out and touched him. ‘I am willing,’ he said. ‘Be healed!’ And instantly the leprosy disappeared” (Matthew 8:1-3, NLT). |

“No se inquieten por nada; más bien en toda ocasión, con oración y ruego, presenten sus peticiones a Dios y dén gracias, y la paz de Dios, que sobrepasa todo entendimiento, cuidará sus corazones y sus pensamientos en Cristo Jesús” (Filipenses 4:6, 7, NVI). |

“For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:1, 6, 8). |
The Effects of Righteousness
When we study world history, we read about the triumphs of conquerors like Alexander the Great, Augustus Caesar, and Charlemagne. Their works were no doubt legendary, but they are not generally known for their righteousness, their faith, or their Christian principles. True triumph comes not from conquering others or performing heroic acts through our own efforts, but through a relationship with Jesus Christ. |
God’s Priority Is Loving Us
Some of us are so amazed at God’s power and might, we forget His other side. God is indeed strong and just, but He also loves us with a love so great we can’t comprehend it. We receive this love and acceptance not from anything we did, but from accepting Jesus Christ and making Him Lord of our lives. God loves all creatures great and small, and we are by no means the least. |
Is Jesus Enough?
Personal relationships are important to us, and relationships with others can enrich our lives and make them more enjoyable. Yet, many people fail to realize the importance of a relationship with Jesus Christ. Some mistakenly believe that the simplicity of this bond with God isn’t enough to be saved, and they feel they must perform good works to help things along. But we don’t need to let religion or the traditions of man dilute this perfect union. |

“Nunca se apartará de tu boca este libro de la ley, sino que de día y de noche meditarás en él, para que guardes y hagas conforme a todo lo que en él está escrito; porque entonces harás prosperar tu camino y todo te saldrá bien” (Josué 1:8). |
