“Pues aunque andamos en la carne, no militamos según la carne, porque las armas de nuestra milicia no son carnales, sino poderosas en Dios para la destrucción de fortalezas. Derribando argumentos y toda altivez que se levanta contra el conocimiento de Dios, y llevando cautivo todo pensamiento a la obediencia a Cristo” (2 Corintios 10:3-5). |

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit” (Jeremiah 17:7, 8, NIV). |

“And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18:2-4). |
Servanthood: The Pathway to Success (Part 3)
Summary Although He was God in human form, Jesus came to earth and chose to be a humble servant. To genuinely serve others requires that we have the same attitude as Christ, who always put others first. When we guard against impure, selfish motives, we position ourselves for powerful service for the kingdom of God.

Understanding Modern Day Idolatry (Part 3)
Summary Many things in the world aren’t necessarily bad until we idolize them. Most people no longer bow down to carved wooden statues, but are unknowingly worshipping at the altar of the god of self. Idolatry involves a tremendous amount of pride; practicing humility is the only way to subdue it.

“Solamente que os comportéis como es digno del evangelio de Cristo, para que os sea que vaya a verso, o que esté ausente, oiga de vosotros que estáis firmes en un mismo espíritu, combatiendo unánimes por la fe del evangelio” (Filipenses 1:27). Nuestro estilo de vida debe reflejar el carácter de Cristo, para que así otros puedan ver quien verdaderamente es Él. |

“Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine” (1 Timothy 1:9, 10). |

“Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law” (Galatians 2:16, NLT). |

“I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting. For the Lord God will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed” (Isaiah 50:6, 7). |

“Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:7, 8). |

“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all of the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord’” (Luke 2:8-11). |

The True Meaning of Obedience (Part 2)
Summary What it means to obey God has changed significantly from the Old to the New Testaments. Instead of mechanically following a set of rules and regulations to demonstrate obedience, it now means to rely on Jesus Christ. Relying on God gives Him an opportunity to work miracles in our lives. Trusting in Christ allows Him to perfect us; when we are in Him, God now sees us through Christ in us.

Understanding New-Testament Obedience
Summary There has been a major shift from the old covenant of the law to the new covenant of grace as far as what it means to obey. Previously, obedience occurred first with the people’s actions; now, it occurs first with our belief. Understanding and benefitting from God’s new and living way requires that we simply trust in Him, without mixing the law with grace.
