Entering Into the Rest

Print

Have you ever felt tired? Not just physically, but mentally exhausted or weary? Have you ever wondered how you would go on? God wants to give rest to anyone who is weary and burdened, but finding this rest is based on whether we believe His grace has made it available to us. If we are willing to receive what He has for us, we will enter into His rest. Following this theme through to the New Testament, we learn that Jesus is our rest. Jesus died not only to bring us back into right relationship with God, but also to make rest available to us. This message is too important for us to misinterpret or overcomplicate. Religion says we must work to try and finish what Jesus has already completed, but the only work remaining for us is to enter into His rest. It is labor for us to resist what the world tells us, and deliberately agree with what God says. When we do this, we rest in complete confidence in God’s abilities and assurance in the truth of His promises.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for wisdom and understanding. Confirm this Word in our lives, and help us to trust You in such a way that we rest in the finished works of Jesus in every area. We have confidence in You and believe that Christ is our rest. Amen.

Scripture:

Hebrews 4:1-4

Hebrews 4:5-11
