If you’ve ever felt that a war was raging between your mind and your heart, it’s not your imagination. The battle is real, and we’re fighting an unseen enemy who focuses his attacks on our minds. This enemy constantly accuses us of wrongdoing and tries to get us to question our salvation. However, God has already decided that we’re righteous, and nothing can persuade Him otherwise.
The devil isn’t playing games—he’s coming after our minds. His strategy is to feed us suggestions wrapped in lies, hoping we’ll accept them as truth. Jesus made it plain that he was a murderer from the beginning. Satan is a liar and the father of lies; if we don’t recognize that, we’ll start believing things God never said.
We must be on our guard, and we can’t afford to be passive about what we think. When we actively resist the devil, he’ll flee from us. Winning this fight isn’t by accident, but by choosing to renew our minds. Refusing to copy the behavior and customs of this world lets God transform us into new persons by changing the way we think.
What we meditate on determines how we live. God’s instructions are to think on what is true, honest, just, pure, and of good report. We can’t just let any old thought hang around; we must filter everything to ensure it aligns with God’s Word of grace. If it doesn’t, we must reject it.
Thankfully, we’re not powerless in this fight. The weapons we have are mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. We can take authority over every negative, fearful, or deceitful thought the devil tries to plant in our minds.
We win by exchanging our thoughts for God’s thoughts. When we discipline our thinking, peace shows up and confusion has to go. As we meditate on the Word day and night, we begin to think like God; this is where real victory lives.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for empowering us to win the battle in our minds. Help us to think Your thoughts daily and walk in the victory You’ve already given us. In Jesus’ name, amen.
