“For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield” (Psalm 5:12).
God is the one who makes us righteous; because He’s righteous, we’re righteous. This flows from His great love for us; righteousness is simply His nature. His favor surrounds us and shields us from harm, both physically and spiritually.

“God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: Hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” (Numbers 23:19).
God’s Word is very simple and straightforward; when we’re looking for what’s true and unchanging in a world where “truth” constantly changes, He has the answers. God always keeps His promises to us.

“For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:20, NKJV).
Jesus, who was the great “I Am” from the Old Testament, said this to His disciples. There are no limits to the places or situations where God can be found. When we assemble together and call on His name, He’ll be there.

“Not forsaking or neglecting to assemble together [as believers], as is the habit of some people, but admonishing (warning, urging, and encouraging) one another, and all the more faithfully as you see the day approaching” (Hebrews 10:25, AMPC).
It’s a mistake to think that because we’ve been saved and are now living under grace, we no longer need to attend church. Believers need to regularly assemble to build each other up, strengthen each other, and receive needed spiritual nourishment to live in a hostile world.

“Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to thy word” (Psalm 119:9).
Children are never too young to begin applying the Word to their lives. Obeying scriptural teachings ensures spiritual success at any age.

“Therefore then, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who have borne testimony to the Truth], let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight) and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to and entangles us, and let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us” (Hebrews 12:1, AMPC).
When we feel like giving up, we’re encouraged by the many believers who can testify to how Christ has impacted their lives at a critical moment. Life is more like a long-distance run than a quick sprint; we must pace ourselves to steadily move toward our goal.

“Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all… But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God… For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified” (Hebrews 10:9, 10, 12, 14).
Under old covenant law, everyone was considered imperfect and flawed and the high priests made annual sacrifices to atone for the people’s sin. When Jesus replaced the law with grace, His death and resurrection made us perfect in Him. Therefore, when religion tells us we’re sinners, we know the truth: we’re the righteousness of God.

“So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised” (Hebrews 10:35, 36, NIV).
We’re instructed to have confidence in the promises God makes to us in the Scriptures, because each one of them is true. His will is for us to have rich, abundant, joyful lives; persevering in that belief keeps us anchored solidly during the storms of life.  Â

“Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him: With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah” (2 Chronicles 32:7, 8).
The daily spiritual battles we all face aren’t ours to fight, but God’s. He has already won every battle; we share in the victory when we trust Him enough to rest in it. When we’re facing our own spiritual “king of Assyria,” God’s promises give us superior strength and courage.
