“Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory” (2 Corinthians 4:16, 17, NKJV).
The troubles we encounter on our Christian walk are only temporary. The tough times we’re going through may seem like they’ll never end, but we must persevere; things can change in an instant.

“Unless the Lord builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the Lord protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good. It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones” (Psalm 127:1, 2, NLT).
God gives to us when we’re at rest, not when we’re anxiously striving to accomplish something through our own efforts. We see miracles only when we’re resting.

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly” (Mattew 11:28-30, MSG).
Our self-efforts can stress us out and make us anxious and tired; accepting grace is the answer. We don’t find rest in Buddha, Mohammed, or in any other religious figure—only in Jesus. Â

“So don’t let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths. For these rules are only shadows of the reality yet to come. And Christ himself is that reality” (Colossians 2:16, 17, NLT).
In the Old Testament, the Sabbath was a particular day; however, the Old Testament was a shadow of things to come. Now, Jesus is our Sabbath.

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done” (Philippians 4:6, NLT).
By doing this, we ride a wave of peace and rest all the way into manifestation of what we need. Whatever we worry about is fleeting and momentary and should be given to God.

“But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble” (James 4:6).
Pride in any area of our lives blocks God’s grace. Receiving from Him requires that we humbly yield to Him.

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7, NIV).
The sign of true humility is trusting God enough to give Him all our worries and anxieties. He’s much bigger than we are and is well able to bear them better than we can.

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? …Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”  (Matthew 6:25, 27, NIV).
The world is steeped in worry, but believers think differently than the world. Worry doesn’t achieve anything useful; God therefore doesn’t want us to be worried or stressed.

“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn…” (Isaiah 54:17).
The finished works of Jesus are comprehensive and all-inclusive; protection is one of those works. Trusting that others’ negative speech has no power over us keeps us from worrying.
