Summary
Christians must understand what being holy involves. It isn’t about our own performance or self-effort, but about Jesus Christ and our faith in Him. Getting born again gives us access to everything He has and makes us as righteous as He is. It doesn’t focus on our conduct but on the realization of our identity as God’s children. Holiness isn’t the opposite of sin; it’s to be like God and be set apart from the world. Accepting God’s definition of holiness and rejecting the world’s definition requires that we learn to think differently, according to His Word. Getting out of the flesh (which is a way of thinking hostile to God) and realizing that Jesus is the only reason we can be holy, puts us in the right mindset.
