Easter holds joyful significance for believers, and it’s much more than just a seasonal celebration. When Jesus was raised from the dead, it was God’s declaration of victory, of a new identity for the church, and of the personal awakening of every believer to resurrection life. Jesus being resurrected shifted all of human history and affected the entire world, believers and non–believers alike. It wasn’t just a Christian event, but a cosmic announcement to all of humanity. Before Jesus came, God saw all of mankind as sinful because of what Adam and Eve did. Jesus’ resurrection made us righteous and restored our relationship with Him. All of mankind was made in the image of God; He therefore refused to abandon us and let us perish, even if it meant sentencing His own Son to death. Because Jesus willingly came to rescue us, we can celebrate our new lives in Him.
