Protection From Above

Protection

When we study our Bibles, specifically focusing on the prophesies made about the end times, it’s apparent that we’ve already arrived there. We see all the signs in our external environment: crime, violence, and everything in between. Fear and anxiety have gone up, and more people are worried about the safety of themselves and their loved ones. Thankfully, God has known all along this would happen, and He has it covered.

God Knows We Need Protecting

During His earthly ministry, Jesus prophesied this. “Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake” (Luke 21:10–12). The enemy would love to bait us into panic, but we starve doubt and feed faith, choosing the law of the Spirit of life over sin and death. We cling to God as our life and the length of our days, trusting Him to extend our years and preserve us.

During this time, we can lean in together, expecting to hear the Holy Spirit and be reminded that our salvation is a powerful package of deliverance, healing, answered prayer, and a secure life in God. We’re not scrambling for protection in our own strength; we’re receiving what Jesus already secured for us and learning how to confidently walk it out daily. In dangerous times full of headlines about uncertainty, our lives are redeemed from destruction and anchored in the Father’s care. Our part is to hear and obey, because heaven is speaking and we belong to a God who secures His children.

Angels Watching Over Us

Angels figure prominently in our protection. These supernatural beings are part of how God carries out deliverance in our salvation. “Isn’t it obvious that all angels are sent to help out with those lined up to receive salvation?” (Hebrews 1:14, MSG). Angels are ministering spirits assigned to protect us, surrounding our homes and guarding our journeys. They respond to the Word, not to our fear; we therefore choose to speak life instead of death through anxious talk.

Because of the angelic help we have, we give the Word more earnest heed, refusing to drift from truths that keep us safe. We can’t secure our lives with locks and weapons; we rely on angels to escape destruction and live through fiery seasons without even the smell of smoke. Our covenant includes protection, and that covenant is as solid as the blood of Jesus that redeemed us from the curses of fear, insecurity, and early death. We let the angels work by keeping our hearts full of the Word and our mouths full of faith, not panic or complaint.

Heavenly Protection

God’s angels aren’t napping but waiting for us to speak the Word so they can put it into action and protect us. “GOD has set his throne in heaven; he rules over us all. He’s the King! So bless GOD, you angels, ready and able to fly at his bidding, quick to hear and do what he says, Bless GOD, all you armies of angels, alert to respond to whatever he wills” (Psalm 103:19-21, MSG). We cultivate our faith like a muscle, practicing the Word in the small things, so we’re steady when bigger storms try to shake us and distract our focus. We refuse fear because it attracts the very trouble Jesus delivered us from.

Our assigned angels set up a circle of protection around us while we pray, and that’s good news in any storm. “The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them” (Psalm 34:7). We abide in the secret place of His protection, a realm the world doesn’t recognize but we access by honoring God and listening to His voice, even in ordinary routines. We don’t just talk about fences around our lives—we live inside them, grateful for angelic encampments that keep us from falling and deliver us because we revere the Lord. Our posture is worship and obedience, not worry.

Accepting God’s Directions

Listening and obeying is major to our protection because the safest place is always the will of God. A prompting to wait, to take another route, or to change plans can be the very thing that saves our lives. Angels ride along, stationed front to back, holding things steady through turbulence. We remember testimonies of near disaster turned into deliverance because angels were dispatched in an instant, faster than we could call for help. Our confidence isn’t in chance, but in God’s intentional care.

It can be scary, but God’s heart is protective, like a mother hen gathering her chicks. However, He won’t force us under His wings if we refuse. “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!” (Matthew 23:37). Saying “yes” to God’s covering, to His wisdom, and to the circle of protection He has provided through our covenant lets us step under His shadow. Honoring the blood that preserves and redeems our lives from corruption lets the angels minister to us as heirs of salvation.

Agreeing With God

On a practical level, we set our hearts on God’s Word and stay prayerful, acknowledging Him in all our ways so that we’re where we’re supposed to be, when we’re supposed to be there. We practice speaking life over our bodies, declaring that anything harmful dies on contact and sickness can’t attach to us, as we cooperate with the Holy Spirit. We give thanks that angels keep us so that we don’t dash our feet against stones, and we continue declaring that God is our refuge and fortress.

As believers, our strategy is to step into today confident that we dwell in God’s circle of protection. Our foundation is secure in Christ. While the world shakes, we can truthfully say that we’re protected, delivered, and safe in His arms.
