“But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7).
God’s judgment is based on inward character rather than outward appearance. He sees the true condition of the heart, something that’s invisible to humans.

“A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another” (John 13:34).

“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee” (Proverbs 23:7).

“This is what the LORD says—your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: ‘I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is good for you and leads you along the paths you should follow’” (Isaiah 48:17, NLT).
God instructs us in what’s best for us in our lives. He faithfully leads us down the right paths for our good.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take” (Proverbs 3:5, 6, NLT).
Relying completely on God leads to clear guidance. When we acknowledge Him in every decision, He straightens our path.

“O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps” (Jeremiah 10:23).
We can’t successfully guide our own lives without God. True direction comes only from Him.

“Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, ‘This is the way you should go,’ whether to the right or to the left” (Isaiah 30:21, NLT).
God personally guides us with clear direction. He shows us exactly where to walk when we listen to His voice.

“Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content” (Philippians 4:11).
True contentment comes from trusting God, not from circumstances. Paul learned to remain steady whether he found himself in lack or abundance.
