“Do not forget or neglect to do kindness and good, to be generous and distribute and contribute to the needy [of the church as embodiment and proof of fellowship], for such sacrifices are pleasing to God” (Hebrews 13:16, AMPC).
The church is the hands and feet of Christ, and one of its main purposes is to serve others for God’s glory. Remembering to sacrifice our own self-will and share Jesus’ kindness and love is what the Father wants us to do.

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him” (Hebrews 11:6, NIV).
Faith is a willingness to accept something as true even when we haven’t seen it, heard it, or felt it. Believers receive it as a gift though God’s grace.
May 24
“I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought” (1 Corinthians 1:10, NIV).
Thinking like the world will only confuse and divide us, but being united with other believers who are of the same mind as Christ helps us avoid this pitfall. For this kind of unity, we must be sensitive to the prompting of the Holy Spirit.

“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 15:5, 6, NIV).
Allowing the Holy Spirit to direct and guide us in all we say and do lets others see Christ in us through our speech and actions. Our attitude must be as humble as Jesus, who gave God all the credit for everything He did.

“But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such ‘wisdom’ does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic... But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere” (James 3:14, 15, 17, NIV).
There are two kinds of wisdom, but only one is from God. Earthly wisdom contradicts the truth found in the Gospel of Grace. Wisdom from heaven is one of the fruits of the Spirit, and is a gift from God.
May 21
“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5).
Our imaginations aren’t just make-believe, but an actual gift from God to allow us to make into solid reality whatever our minds can picture. The devil tries to hijack this gift, twist it, and use it against us; we must therefore capture and subdue every thought that rises up against God’s truth, and deliberately align our thoughts to agree with God’s thoughts.

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).
Fear is a weapon the enemy uses to break us down and paralyze us. However, love is stronger than fear; accepting God’s love for us makes us powerful and protects us from emotional attacks.
May 19
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength” (Isaiah 26:3, 4).
Our minds can be influenced either by the world or by heaven. Trusting God enough to focus on Him instead of the world gives us peace of mind. Faith in God is good for our mental health, because it results in a strong, sound mind.
May 18
“Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming” (1 Peter 1:13, NIV).
The world dulls our spiritual senses because of evil influences constantly swirling around us. We’re warned to stay sober and be on high alert against these influences; we do this by focusing on Jesus’ grace.
