Believers who have placed their faith and trust in Jesus Christ automatically find themselves in a spiritual war. This battle is real, and our minds are the primary battleground. The enemy focuses his attacks on our thinking because he wants to control how we see our lives and our God. Our victory or defeat begins with the thoughts we choose to entertain.
Jesus gave us absolute authority to walk over every demonic force without fear of being hurt. While it’s great these spirits must obey us, our real joy comes from knowing our names are recorded in heaven. We aren’t fighting for victory, but standing in the victory Christ already won for us.
Whoever is born of God is an overcomer. Our faith in what Jesus did is the secret weapon that allows us to rise above everything this world throws our way. We don’t have to stress or struggle in our own strength when we can simply rest in His boundless might. Victory happens when we align our thinking with the Word of grace and refuse to let lies take root.
When those old feelings of guilt try to creep in, we must remember that there’s no condemnation for those of us who belong to Christ Jesus. We don’t have to walk around conscious of our past mistakes because the sacrifice Jesus made was so perfect it purged our conscience forever. We’re made right by our faith, not by our performance.
We live in peace because Jesus declared from the cross that the work of our redemption is finished. Every blessing we need is already available to us right now through His unmerited favor. Committing to renewing our minds daily to what has already been done, and walking in the power and ability Jesus gave us, keeps us on top.
Prayer:
God, thank You for winning the battle so that we can rest in Your finished works and walk in victory. Help us to remember that we’re righteous only through You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
