David showed wisdom by praying for both his words and inner thoughts to please God. He acknowledged the Lord as his source of strength and salvation. We need that same wisdom today.

“Watch your words and hold your tongue; you’ll save yourself a lot of grief” (Proverbs 21:23, MSG).
Wisely choosing our words spares us from heartache. Silence at the right time can prevent regret.

“The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked” (Proverbs 10:11).
Righteous words bring life and refreshment. By contrast, wicked speech conceals harm and destruction.

“There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health” (Proverbs 12:18).
Careless, reckless words wound deeply like a sword. Conversely, wise speech using carefully chosen words brings healing and restoration.

When we speak in agreement with God, our declarations made in faith carry power because He has established them. His favor brings clarity and guidance to our path.

Jesus is our advocate in heaven; we must therefore cling firmly to our faith. His position assures our access to God and our victory in trials.

“Watch your tongue and keep your mouth shut, and you will stay out of trouble” (Proverbs 21:23, NLT).
Careful speech protects us from unnecessary trouble and drama. Restraining the tongue brings peace and safety and causes things to go well with us.

“Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us” (Romans 5:5, NKJV).
God is always faithful to us; we’ll never be disappointed when we place our hope in Him. His Holy Spirit fills our hearts with His love.

“For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure” (Philippians 2:13).
God actively works in us to create both the longing and the strength to do what pleases Him. His love and grace empower our actions.
