“A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just” (Proverbs 13:22).
God gives us sound instructions and advice on every area of our lives, including financial planning. The wealth of those who obtain it dishonestly will be redirected to the righteous.

“Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in forced labor… The lazy do not roast any game, but the diligent feed on the riches of the hunt” (Proverbs 12:24, 27, NIV).
Diligence and hard work are godly traits. The world often rewards laziness, but those willing to embrace honest labor and make the extra effort will succeed and prosper.

“The righteous should choose his friends carefully, for the way of the wicked leads them astray” (Proverbs 12:26, NKJV).
This is an excellent verse for parents to remember when teaching their children how to choose their friends wisely. The people we spend time with greatly influence us, for good or for bad.

“No [actual] evil, misfortune, or calamity shall come upon the righteous, but the wicked shall be filled with evil, misfortune, and calamity” (Proverbs 12:21, AMPC).
The righteous who trust God and live by faith have His promise of supernatural protection from all types of harm. By contrast, those who choose an evil lifestyle attract evil to themselves.

“The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble” (Proverbs 12:13).
Life can be unpredictable, but one sure thing is that wicked people create their own problems. Words are powerful; people who speak evil will trip themselves up, and what they declare will come to pass in their own lives, but God delivers His children from trouble.

“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves” (James 1:22, NKJV).
It’s easy to passively listen to the Word, but God intends for us act on it by applying it to our lives and sharing it with others. Actions speak louder than words.

“Understand [this], my beloved brethren. Let every man be quick to hear [a ready listener], slow to speak, slow to take offense and to get angry. For man’s anger does not promote the righteousness God [wishes and requires]” (James 1:19, 20 AMPC).
We live in an angry environment; those who are influenced by it are always ready to take offense and speak in anger. Believers who have been made righteous have overcome the spirit of anger.

“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver” (Proverbs 25:11).
Fools tend to blurt out anything without putting any thought into what they say, thereby revealing their ignorance. However, the true wisdom to know exactly what to say, and when to say it, comes only from God.

“Be not forward (self-assertive and boastfully ambitious) in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men; for better it is that it should be said to you, Come up here, than that you should be put lower in the presence of the prince, whose eyes have seen you” (Proverbs 25:6, 7, AMPC).
Proud, arrogant people broadcast to the world how great they are and what wonderful things they’re doing. This mindset sets us up for a humiliating fall; instead of puffing ourselves up, it’s better to humbly let others exalt us.
