“But we are citizens of the state (commonwealth, homeland) which is in heaven, and from it also we earnestly and patiently await [the coming of] the Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) [as] Savior” (Philippians 3:20, AMPC).
Although believers physically live in this world now, this living arrangement is temporary. As God’s children and members of His divine family, our true and permanent residency is in heaven.

“Parents rejoice when their children turn out well; wise children become proud parents. So make your father happy! Make your mother proud!” (Proverbs 23:24, 25, MSG).
Wise parents make sure their children learn what the Bible says and then apply those principles and lessons to their lives. God’s advice to children (who will one day grow up and become parents themselves) is to pass His message on to future generations.

“Jesus said to him, ‘If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes’” (Mark 9:23, NKJV).
Often, we limit ourselves—and God—through our own doubt and unbelief. When we truly believe God’s Word, we let Him unlock and free our minds and spirits. His power is manifested in our lives, and we begin to see miracle after miracle.

“The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork” (Psalm 19:1, 2, NKJV).
Getting too wrapped up in the everyday things of the world can cause us to miss out on the beauty all around us that God created. Taking a few moments to watch a morning sunrise, smell the fragrant flowers blooming in the springtime, and listen to the sounds of birds chirping and the wind rustling through the trees gives us a glimpse into His nature.

“Attention, all! See the marvels of God! He plants flowers and trees all over the earth, Bans war from pole to pole, breaks all the weapons across his knee. ‘Step out of the traffic! Take a long, loving look at me, your High God, above politics, above everything’” (Psalm 46:8-10, MSG).
When we distance ourselves spiritually from the hustle and bustle of the world and shift our focus to God, we can see clearly all that He has done and continues to do. We’ll see the truth globally, as well as on a personal level in our own lives. There’s no one higher or greater than Him.

“May the God of your hope so fill you with all joy and peace in believing [through the experience of your faith] that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound and be overflowing (bubbling over) with hope” (Romans 15:13, AMPC).
A true relationship with God evokes such peace and joy that we can’t possibly understand the depths of it with our intellectual minds. The hope we find in Him has no doubt or uncertainty attached but is rooted in the knowledge of the truth of the gospel.

“Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another” (Ephesians 4:25).
As believers in the body of Christ, we’re to be truthful with each other in every situation. The devil will try to use lies and deception to divide us and bring us down, but when we rely on the Holy Spirit, we’re victorious against the attacks of the enemy.

“You can’t whitewash your sins and get by with it; you find mercy by admitting and leaving them” (Proverbs 28:13, MSG).
When we do something we know is wrong, we may be able to fool the world, and even ourselves for a while, but not God. There’s no hiding anything from Him because He can see straight into our hearts and minds. The wisest thing to do is honestly admit our mistake and move on.

“These are the things you shall do: Speak each man the truth to his neighbor; Give judgment in your gates for truth, justice, and peace; Let none of you think evil in your heart against your neighbor; And do not love a false oath. For all these are things that I hate,’ Says the Lord” (Zechariah 8:16, 17, NKJV).
Christians are on display, and the world is watching us. Our behavior should reflect the behavior of the Prince of Peace, who demonstrated by example how to embrace peace, truth, and justice.
