“The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; According to the cleanness of my hands
He has recompensed me” (2 Samuel 22:21, NKJV).
Much has changed from the old to the new covenant, including the way God deals with us. Before Jesus, God dealt with the people according to their own brand of righteousness that was based on their deeds; now, He deals with us according to Jesus’ deeds and our faith in them.

“But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, ‘Why have you made me like this?’ Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor?” (Romans 9:20, 21, NKJV).
Rebelling against God is never a good idea, because everything He does is for our benefit. Being flexible and yielding to God, who fashioned us, allows Him to work through us to reach others.

“My enemies turn back; they stumble and perish before you. For you have upheld my right and my cause, sitting enthroned as the righteous judge” (Psalm 9:3, 4, NIV).
We don’t have to be fearful of what’s going on in the world today. God has promised through His Word that He’ll protect us and keep us safe. Nothing and no one who rises up against us will be able to harm us.

“By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible” (Hebrews 11:3, NIV).
The evidence of God’s handiwork is visible all around us when we look at the twinkling stars, a beautiful sunrise, or a field of colorful flowers. However, above and beyond what the eye can see, our faith is the acceptance of things unseen, which are just as real as the physical world.

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33).
The world focuses on material things and seeks them first and foremost, but Christians are different. God takes care of us, and He’ll fulfill our every need; all He asks is that we keep our priorities straight.

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened” (Matthew 7:7, 8).
Earnestly seeking God gives our lives purpose and direction; He’ll always make Himself known to those who earnestly call out to Him. When life becomes painful and we feel alone and abandoned, we can turn to God and sense His presence.

“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’” (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV).
God has great plans for us. He intends to raise us up as His people and set us aside as His beloved, highly favored children. Jesus is our hope; the future He offers is eternal life.

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31).
Patiently waiting for God’s instructions for our lives, instead of running off and doing our own thing, enables God to empower us for the task. The world will notice the strength and endurance we have because it comes from a divine source.

“Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you” (Psalm 9:10, NIV).
Putting our trust in others is disappointing when they let us down, but we can always depend on God. When we earnestly look for Him, we’ll find Him.
