Many people define pride as simply a high opinion of oneself, but it is also a source of anger, jealousy, bitterness, and countless other negative emotions. The root of pride is self-centeredness, which was the very thing that caused Satan’s downfall.

Muchas personas definen el orgullo simplemente como una opinión de sí mismo pero es también la fuente de contiendas, celos, amarguras y sin números de emociones. La raíz proviene de egocentrismo, que es lo que causo la caída de Satanás.

We have a natural tendency to want to put ourselves first, but a humble attitude involves putting others first. This mindset is completely contrary to what the world advocates, but one that Jesus embraced.

“Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots” (Luke 23:34).
Whenever we feel tempted to be self-centered when others are doing us wrong, we can remember what Jesus said. He had every right to take offense and become self-centered when He was dying on the cross, but instead, He forgave His enemies.

“Y Jesús decía, Padre, perdónalos, porque no saben lo que hacen” (Lucas 23:34).
Cuando nos sentimos tentados a ser centrados en sí mismo cuando otros nos hacen mal, podemos recordar lo que Jesús dijo. Él tenía todo derecho a ofenderse cuando estaba muriendo en la cruz, pero perdonó a sus enemigos.
