The Power of Stepping Out and Submitting

Weekly Meditations

11 May 2026

Receiving God’s grace is far easier than we think. It’s always trying to flow freely in our lives, but our attitude can either open the door or shut it tight. God wants a personal, committed relationship with us that’s free from anything that comes between us and Him. Letting our own wants and frustrations drive us creates inner conflict and opens the door to pride, which—no matter how subtle—always pushes back against the flow of His grace.

When we chase desires with the wrong motives, compete with others, or try to get things our own way, we end up fighting battles we were never meant to fight. However, humility positions us to receive grace in abundance, because God always leans in toward the humble. Continuing in destructive patterns doesn’t align with who we are now. As believers, we’ve been blessed because God no longer imputes sin to us.

Grace never encourages sin but empowers us to walk away from what’s beneath us. There’s a call from heaven that urges us to step out of environments, habits, and relationships that pull us toward compromise. Staying in places that oppose God’s Word blocks the blessings meant to flow into our lives. Thankfully, now that we’re dead to sin, we don’t have to live in it any longer.

Submitting to God and resisting the enemy happen at the same time, in one motion, not two. Humility keeps our hearts tender and teachable so we can move with God instead of resisting Him without realizing it. When we humble ourselves under His mighty hand, He knows exactly when and how to elevate us. Stepping out in faith and trusting God lets Him handle every detail in our lives.

Prayer:

Father God, thank You for helping us to walk in true humility. Teach us to submit to You daily and resist anything that tries to block what You’ve already provided. In Jesus’ name, amen.
